A roof is what gives your house total protection. And when it comes time to getting work done on your roof, it can be hard to choose a roofing contractor from the big list of options.  That's because making sure the job is done right is high stakes and we totally understand that.

Now, you can try to do the work yourself, but this isn’t highly recommended, even for the most experienced do-it-yourselfer.  What seems like a simple roof repair can turn out be much more serious.  Sometimes there is damage to the lower layers that an inexperienced person can miss.  Ultimately, you want the work done on your roof to be done right, and I’m sure you would agree that getting a pro is the best option to avoid problems down the line.
Hiring the best roofing contractor is not as complicated as you might imagine.  Following a few simple guidelines, you can easily find the right roofer without having to schedule a tone of appointments with different roofing companies.  We recommend the below tips to find the right roofing contractor.

Ensure they are licensed

A roof is not just shingles, tiles and nails. It serves a huge purpose to the overall upkeep of your home. It preserves everything in your house, your greatest investment. It is, therefore, necessary to find a licensed roofing contractor. Every licensed roofer shows that they are competent and they take their work seriously. Make sure to ask your roofer if they are licensed.

Make sure they are insured
Especially on big jobs, like a roof replacement or re-roof, hiring a roofing company that is fully insured it key.  An insured roofing firm covers you from any problems that may occur.  Working with a company that is insured not only gives you peace of mind, but actually covers any damages or accidents- saving you headaches down the line.

What do their reviews look like?
If you look at their website or online presence, do they have a ton of bad reviews?  If so, this might be a red flag.  One or two bad reviews might be inevitable for a company that’s been around for a long time, but a pattern of them is not a good sign and you may need to look somewhere else for a roofer.

What is your impression of them?
How a contractor interacts with you from the start is a good indication of how they will communicate with you throughout the process.  Did they show up on time to your scheduled appointment?  Were they warm and professional on the phone?  Was their communication clear?   Did they take the time to answer all of your questions?  If their interaction with you was a positive experience, then it is likely this is just the way they operate on a daily basis .

By keeping these things in mind, selecting a roofing contractor does not have to be a difficult or stressful task.
